Health Innovation Hub

A leap for life sciences

From shipbuilding to science: a purpose-built lab and office space and a new beacon of innovation for Glasgow

Offering a new home to emerging and established life science and health businesses, the HiH is a catalyst project for innovation delivered by Kadans in collaboration with the Living Laboratory for Precision Medicine, a University of Glasgow-led programme at the forefront of translating cutting-edge science and innovation into real-world clinical settings.

A multi-tenanted workspace designed to foster collaboration, adaptability, and innovation, it enables tenants to scale up as their research and business needs evolve, creating a dynamic ecosystem for cutting-edge health and life sciences research.

The building’s design draws inspiration from Govan’s shipbuilding past and its future in medical innovation. The rust-red façade, punctuated by carefully spaced glazing that evokes DNA coding, celebrates both the area’s industrial identity and the building’s scientific purpose.

A curved atrium forms the social heart of the building, encouraging informal interaction and knowledge exchange between researchers, entrepreneurs, and clinicians. A ground-floor café and shared collaboration zones create an open, welcoming environment that connects the building to the local community.

The Hub strengthens our national network of science and innovation buildings while supporting Glasgow’s ambition to be a global leader in health innovation. We’re excited to see the impact this dynamic space will have as it becomes home to a new community of pioneering businesses shaping the future of healthcare.
This building symbolises a new chapter for the Clyde waterfront — transforming Govan’s legacy of making into one of discovery. It is key in supporting the city’s emerging innovation industry.
