of flexible retail and work space.
Creating a new high street
The scheme aims to extend Canning Town’s Barking Road High Street by creating a new chain of public spaces running North-South through the site. Town Place will be a new Civic Space for Canning Town and Park Square will create new green space for the area. Both spaces are supported by a coherent retail strategy which aims to foster activity and promote a bustling daytime and night time economy.
Raised courtyard gardens
The scheme takes form through the creation of four mixed use courtyard blocks. Retail space addressing the street is accommodated within a broad base with all housing arranged around a series of courtyards above. These courtyards are a key tenant of the scheme and create a green sanctuary for residents away from the hustle and bustle of the high street.
A mix of housing types
Phase 3 aims to foster a diverse community of residents from all ages and backgrounds through the creation of varied tenure mix and high allocation of large family homes.
