Eglinton Crosstown West Extension

New connections

This seven-station extension to Toronto’s metro network will bring public transport within walking distance for 37,500 people.

As metro specialists, we are leading the line-wide common design for all underground stations being delivered by other partner architects to ensure consistency throughout. Of the seven stations, Hawkins\Brown are designing and delivering two stations: Jane (elevated) and Martin Grove (underground).

The stations have a distinct design language that combines the existing Eglinton Crosstown architecture with the new DS09 Metrolinx Station Design Standards. Each station will have a unique colour and pattern at the platform level that filters to other components throughout the stations.

The project will bring public transit within walking distance for 37,500 people, many of whom are low-income. Metrolinx predict this extension, combined with the Eglinton Crosstown LRT, will lead to up to 6.5 million fewer car trips on the road and a 5,800-tonne reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
