Maple House \

Establishing a homely environment

Fast track fit-out of two wings of Maple House to create a new home for Division of Psychiatry.

We worked closely with key personnel from the division, to develop a homely environment that would support open plan workplace for 290 staff, seminar spaces and common rooms for students.

Although predominantly a workspace, patients do visit the researchers and clinicians and it was important to put them at ease with a domestic feel to the interior. This was achieved through the use of bespoke plywood joinery units and ample break out areas, using high back sofas and fully upholstered armchairs. A strong graphic identity was developed referencing the art work of Jackson Pollock who suffered from many mental health issues.
