The Wenlock Building has become a new landmark on Regents Canal.
We were commissioned to rationalise and improve upon an existing planning consent on behalf of a joint venture client team, including Workspace, Londonewcastle, United House and Family Mosaic Housing.
The Wenlock Building is truly mixed use, with workshops and studio space managed by Workspace, tessellated with private and affordable housing.
The building references the solid warehouse massing of traditional canalside architecture, with freeform penthouse structures at the top.
The scheme won a silver award in the The Best New Homes in Britain, What House? Awards in 2009 the Evening Standard 'Apartment of the Year' and was shortlisted for a Hackney Design Award. The choice of typical warehouse materials of a brick frame with timber infill, has become a much quoted precedent by developers working in the area.
