Swandon Way\

Renting by the river

With Swandon Way to the south (and Smuggler’s Way to the north), we have designed two schemes which make up one overall development for Legal and General, including a new station square for Wandsworth Town Station.

In total there are 1100 Build to Rent and Affordable apartments across both sites. Both projects are currently under construction.

With a shortfall of housing in Wandsworth, Swandon Way will make a significant contribution to stemming this shortage, providing purpose-built rental homes for all ages, demographics and social groups.

Working across three mixed-use urban blocks, the design offers 3 to 4 flats per core and ensures that all have a dual aspect, with shared external amenity space provided by courtyards at the first floor.

Adopting a majority brickwork palette, the buildings provide a range of maximised views that include Wandsworth Town, the River Thames, and the city beyond.

The commercial and Build-to-Rent space infills between the base of the buildings, occupying the ground and mezzanine floors and connecting each plot. As with the residential spaces, the majority of the non-residential floorspace is over two floors, with an external amenity space providing the opportunity for dual aspect space, linked around the external courtyard.

The project provides connections to allow more direct, straightforward pedestrian access to the River Thames and Wandsworth Town Station.
