Woodberry Park is the largest and the best known partnership between a local authority housing agency and a private developer. We are lead architects for a number of sites in phase one and phase two, developing detailed designs within the principles of the original masterplan.
In 2009 Hawkins\Brown was appointed as lead architect to implement the masterplan and develop proposals for the regeneration of the Woodberry Down Estate.
The Oakend and Shops site is named after the Council housing blocks it replaces. It is also known as 'Kick Start Site 3 (KSS3)'. It is located at the junction of Woodberry Grove and the Stoke Newington East Reservoir, forming the key southern gateway to Woodberry Park.
Working alongside the local residents, Hackney Homes, Genesis Housing Association and the local planning authority, we achieved detailed planning permission for 294 private market residential dwellings and 700sqm of retail space.
The proposals included a significant element of public realm, with the introduction of a new ‘London Square’, and significant improvements to the Metropolitan Open Land adjacent to the existing reservoir.
