Existing laboratories rooms have been transformed and opened up to create a new office and research centre for the new Centre for Biodiversity and Environment Research .
In 2013, we created a stonger identity with the use of landscape tones and abstracted imagery which were inspired by the diverse world of animals, flora and fauna. This was designed to reflect an aspect of the end user’s research.
The layout has been carefully designed with future expansion in mind and provides both cellular and flexible open plan offices. Integrated storage maximises the floor area and neatly contains everything from research papers to butterfly nets. In spring 2015 we were commissioned to carry out phase two of the refurbishment, which includes expanding both write up space and research labs.
With the ethos of the Centre strongly linked to environmental change and responsibility it seems appropriate that the refurbishment gained a SKA Gold rating and utilised new sustainable technologies.
