Transforming a shop front office into a creative workspace to call our new ‘home’ in the Northern Quarter.
Our New Home
In 2015, having decided to open a dedicated Manchester Studio, we found premises in the Northern Quarter that offered a fantastic visual presence in the city. By reworking the interior, the studio at once celebrates our new home in Manchester and extends the collaborative culture of the practice.
Shop Front Studio
The premises gave us the opportunity to create a new shop front which embraces the city and to express ourselves. The ground floor windows present a changing exhibition of our work using models and a new window graphic. The upper floors offer a glimpse into our workspace and new graphics again convey the collective voice of our studio.
A vibrant and exciting workspace was created by collaborating, designing and making pieces ourselves, working with graduates from the Manchester School of Art, and existing partners to create items of artwork and furniture. We have created a home that reflects the character of our team, embedded and inspired by Manchester’s Northern Quarter.
The traditional office reception desk has been overturned in favour of a social kitchen with its own cacti-garden planted with the help of friends and family, selecting plants from the National Collection of Cacti. With 30 in total, there is enough for each member of the studio to claim their own.
The studio was completed in time for our official opening by Manchester City Council’s Leader, Sir Richard Leese who was joined by the Partners, in welcoming nearly 200 guests to our home.
