Dame Alice Owen's School \

Dame Alice Owen’s School is renowned for its excellent standard of teaching, academic achievements and beautiful surroundings, and it is no mean feat that we achieved planning consent for a new science building within only 16 weeks of being appointed.

Fourteen teaching laboratories will be equipped with the latest technology for the teaching of chemistry, physics and biology to A-level standard. The elevations will be clad in brick to complement the surrounding buildings with large generous windows to the laboratories.  Internally, we have used warm timbers and colours taken from the fruiting and flowering trees in the surrounding landscape.

The new science building will be energy efficient, using ground source heat pumps to provide over 35% of the building’s heating requirements, natural ventilation, passive heating and cooling, rainwater recycling and low energy lighting systems.
