Culverin Court \

Culverin Court is used by CABE as an example of how a new residential building can fit into a Conservation Area and provide variety in a large scale redevelopment scheme.

To clear the site for the Emirates Stadium, and to help raise funds for its construction, Arsenal FC and London Borough of Islington worked together to develop a wide ranging masterplan that included housing schemes stretching across North London.

We were brought on board to satisfy the planning condition, imposed by Islington, that only 'trophy architects' could support CZWG in completing the design and 'building out' the housing in their masterplan. We worked with Bryant Homes, Taylor Woodrow and then Laing O'Rourke to design and build Culverin Court and convert the Listed Mount Carmel School into flats.

Culverin Court has been widely published and is used by CABE as an Exemplar Scheme for Urban Housing.

“It shines like a gem in a chamber of horrors”
