All Saints Community Centre is an example of how simple, modern architecture can link buildings of different ages and transform a ‘second hand’ institution.
Hawkins\Brown worked closely with the New Cross Gate New Deals for Communities to extend and refurbish the existing community centre, uniting its various disparate buildings to give the centre an improved, cohesive and easily identifiable presence within the community.
A series of colourful perforated aluminium screens give an integrated approach to security whilst branding the centre with a new identity.
The internal spaces were reorganised to create a more flexible centre with level access and a new reception and ‘heart’. The existing halls were restored and refurbished with building services improved throughout.
The result has been a vibrant and intensively used facility, which provides a much needed resource for the local community.
