University of Exeter's Living Systems Institute gets Planning Permission \

We are delighted that the Living Systems Institute for University of Exeter has been granted planning permission. The design generates maximum useable area on this exceptionally tight site to enable the University to dramatically expand its science research facilities.

The building climbs the slope to minimize its impact when seen from the city. Yet, up close, it is bold and innovative. We are working with artist Nicky Hirst to develop a façade design that says something about the research happening within the building.

The project is being procured through a two stage design and build route and Hawkins\Brown are working alongside project managers Mace and main contractors Wates to bring the second stage tender in on budget. Some enabling works have begun and the main construction is anticipated to start later this year.
