We are so thrilled to be featured in this year's Architecture Room curated by Spencer de Grey, displaying pieces responding to the topic of sustainability, and uncommonly features text descriptions accompanying the works.
"A Sustainable Economy on the Fringes of Old Oak Common" is a concept model of our development framework for Victoria Road and Old Oak Lane. Taking creative reference from the various industrial and workplace ecologies that inhabit this vital piece of London's urban fabric, we have crafted the model from screws, nails, wire and other miscellaneous hardware.
A kind of valorisation of the spaces that host London's productive economies, the model is a visual representation of the need to preserve industrial land capacity. Keeping productive capacity within London's boundaries promotes local labour and reduces logistics traffic, key requirements that the new London Plan deems as necessary for a sustainable economy.
You can see our model in this year’s RA Summer Exhibition until the 12 August!
