The Centre, previously one of the Fairbridge Centres, has recently been refurbished and we were privileged to be part of a team of VIP visitors. The visit included a tour of the Centre with a great talk from Pete explaining the different programmes they provide and how the refurbished building helps to deliver these. The Centre sees on average 240 young people per year providing a range of programmes including the initial access course, which allows the young people to get out and do activities such as climbing and potholing.
The talk was followed by a delicious lunch of two types of pie with mashed potato and gravy followed by cheesecake, provided by the young people. During lunch we had the opportunity to talk to the young people directly, helping us to understand their point of view and their needs.
Thank you to the Prince's Trust Hackney Centre young people, Pete and his team for a great afternoon.
