Portland to Portland Charity Ride\

My cycle ride from Minneapolis to New York through Milwaukee, Chicago, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia was just shy of 2000 miles throughout June.

This amazing journey was part of the Portland to Portland (P2P) charity ride which in addition to raising money for Article 25 also carried out research into cycling infrastructure in the American cities we peddled through. We found many examples of good practice where old rail beds have been transformed into recreational bike routes but also in many downtown areas the cycle infrastructure is being promoted by city departments seeking to promote healthy living and promote an urban lifestyle. Among the best was Indianapolis where the new Cultural Trail connects neighbourhoods, cultural districts and city centre amenities with a network of landscaped bike and pedestrian routes, This has kick-started mixed-use regeneration across the downtown area.

In addition to meeting City Mayors and Commissioners of Public Transport we were able to take time out and visit amazing buildings from Frank Lloyd Wright, to Louis Kahn.
