Planning for ARK Putney Academy \

Hawkins\Brown recently gained Planning and Listed Building consent for the refurbishment of ARK Putney Academy and last week we began to see potential of the proposals.

Achieving Planning and Listed Building consent for the refurbishment of the Grade II Listed School is a significant milestone for the team who worked for two years on the project. The intention is now to get started as soon as possible on refurbishment works. Our first site meeting took place last week and with the strip out works progressing we really started to see the proposals emerging.

The top floor wavy roofed pavilion previously housed a series of classrooms, the dark blue blinds were permanently down to avoid glare to the computer screens and interactive whiteboards. The proposals open up the space to create one large art studio space, sub-divided into teaching areas by furniture. With most of the internal walls removed to maximise the light, space and views across Central London, the potential for this to be a truly inspiring art studio is beginning to show.
