Peabody, St. John’s Hill Phase 2 Receives Planning Permission \

The new scheme was unanimously approved at Wandsworth’s Planning Committee.

Peabody, St. John’s Hill received planning Permission in 2012. The first Phase is under construction and will be completed in April 2016.Two further phases will follow, which when completed will provide 538 homes, a Community Hub and new commercial and retail space.

A key objective of the redevelopment is to maintain the existing community allowing all existing residents to remain on the estate. In order to ensure that Peabody can fulfil this promise they have interviewed their residents to establish the housing need. In Phase two the previous mix of homes, appropriate in 2012 and approved in the 2012 planning permission, was no longer suitable. Therefore Hawkins\Brown have reviewed the approved permission and redesigned a number of buildings to provide the homes needed to accommodate the returning community.

The new scheme was submitted in November 2015 and was unanimously approved at Wandsworth’s Planning Committee on 24 February 2016.
When completed the scheme will provide 538 homes, a Community Hub, and new commercial and retail space. The proposed changes increase the amount of affordable accommodation provided on the site and they will help to ensure community continuity and cohesion.
