Hawkins\Brown joins international team to design Cambridge Children’s Hospital\

In a team led by Turner & Townsend, Hawkins\Brown will work in partnership with WhiteArkitekter to create the major healthcare project

Cambridge Children’s Hospital aims to provide a whole new way of caring for young patients, integrating mental and physical health care, alongside world leading academic research, built on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.

With a £100million of public funding committed to the project by Health Secretary Matt Hancock in 2018, Cambridge Children’s is a partnership between two leading NHS trusts - Cambridge University Hospitals (CUH), and Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT) - and the University of Cambridge (UoC).

Embedding genomic and psychological research alongside clinical expertise in physical and mental child health, Cambridge Children’s will be a brand new, state-of-the-art hospital designed to take care of the whole child, not just their illness.

Hawkins\Brown will draw on expertise in clinical research and the UK healthcare sector, while WhiteArkitekter will bring to the project global healthcare experience.

The hospital is due to open in 2025.

“The Cambridge Children’s Hospital project represents an opportunity to consider a whole new approach to healthcare for young people – focused on the mind as well as the body – with research embedded alongside the clinical facilities.

It is a strong design team, and working alongside White Arkitekter is a great opportunity to combine their global expertise in healthcare with Hawkins\Brown’s UK track record in healthcare and research buildings.”
