Hawkins\Brown gains Planning Permission for White Post Lane Mixed Use Development \

We are happy to announce that we gained planning committee approval for Aitch Group’s 24-26 White Post Lane mixed use development.

The site includes over 100 new homes and 3000Sq m of commercial space including a standalone 1800Sq m building clustered around a working yard. Planning committee members described the design proposal as a ‘well resolved and handsome development’.

White Post Lane is situated in the creative Hackney Wick and Fish Island community linking Victoria Park and the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The approved proposal aims to increase the pedestrian permeability throughout the existing industrial sized plots by creating a new series of streets and yards which forms part of the fabric of the successful industrial conversions.

The scheme takes the factory complex arrangement as well as material and form precedents from the urban heritage. This is expressed in the warehouse language of brick piers for the residential blocks as well as the stacked commercial building. This helps tie the collection of similar but different buildings together as a cohesive urban block.
