Harbinder Birdi named 2020 RIBA Fellow member \

The RIBA Fellow Membership recognises 'inspirational' chartered members who have 'made a significant contribution to the profession'.

In recognition of his outreach and engagement work, the RIBA has today named Hawkins\Brown Infrastructure Lead Harbinder Birdi as a RIBA Fellow member.

A keen communicator, Harbinder has actively shared his infrastructure and transport expertise to a broader audience throughout his career, mentoring architects entering the profession as well as engaging with the wider public. He leads the CPD programme at Hawkins\Brown, which has supported over 400 Part 3 graduates to date. He lectures on professional practice in the UK and internationally, while working with universities advising on RIBA accreditation for courses as well as providing guidance on how to evolve architectural education for the benefit of students. He also partakes in the 'Speakers for Schools' initiative, encouraging children attending state schools to join the design and construction industries.

Harbinder is the Principal Architect for the design and construction of Tottenham Court Road station; he ensured the station remained operational during the modernisation of existing tunnels while seeing through the integration of the greatest number of artworks within a London Underground station.
