Back to the Future - Sustainable Trends Week\

The Hawkins\Brown Sustainability Group recently hosted a week of events entitled Back to the Future. It was inspired by the thought that various predictions were made for the year 2015 and what could we predict for the next few years?

We kicked off the week with a reimagining of how Hawkins\Brown should be approaching sustainable design as an integrated part of their existing design ethos. This was emphasised by comments made during the presentation from Duncan Price, Buro Happold, Director of Sustainability who cantered through the alphabet of Future Sustainable Trends, concluding that design quality, consultation and collaboration remain the fundamental aspects of sustainable design.

We were honoured to welcome UCL EngD students based in industry including our own Yair Schwartz, Chris van Dronkelaar (Buro Happold), So Hyun (ARUP) and Stathis Eleftheriadis (Price & Myers) presenting current research into topics such as Life Cycle Analysis, The Power of BIM and the Energy Gap in Pecha Kucha style.

A building visit and raucous Friday sustainable pub quiz, MC’d by our own Lucas Lou, completed the week in style.
