A Groundbreaking Ceremony \

The UTC Cambridge is moving apace. From winning the competition at Easter, and achieving planning a month ahead of programme in July, Morag, Jonathan and I found ourselves at the groundbreaking ceremony a couple of weeks ago.

The ceremony was presided over by Anne Constantine (Principal of Cambridge Regional College), Professor John Rallison (Cambridge University) and Dr Julian Huppert (MP for Cambridge); each were enthusiastic, describing the scheme as visionary, and an innovative concept - though disappointingly no reference to ground breaking science!

The new University Technical College is an exciting project to be involved with. It is one of 45 new colleges being built across the country (17 are already open). The education model is considered to be innovative and relevant as they combine practical and academic courses for 14-19 year olds, in the case of UTC Cambridge with an emphasis on Biomedical and Environmental Science.

The new building is scheduled to complete in September 2014.
