Creating London’s Home for Making\

Here East is a ground breaking scheme with a breath-taking vision; to transform the former press and broadcast centres on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park into 1.2 million square feet of commercial space for London’s creative and digital industries. Join Hawkins\Brown, Here East and Open Desk for a panel discussion chaired by OnOffice’s Editor Helen Parton as we discuss our unique collaboration; the challenges and the resulting high expectations to create London’s Home for Making.

Our Panel:

Gavin Poole: CEO, Here East
Gavin is the CEO of Here East, a 1.2m sq ft campus for digital and creative companies.  It is the key economic legacy driver on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.  Previously the home for all the TV broadcasters and journalists reporting London 2012 to the world, Here East has been transformed into a home for companies creating the innovations and products of tomorrow.  Gavin is by profession an aeronautical engineer and has been a military officer, a political think tank director and has led the Here East team since early 2012 taking the company from concept development through to delivery.  Gavin is a London Tech Ambassador often travelling overseas to support London and Partners, an active Tech London Advocate sitting on the Advisory Board of TLA and is a London Tech Week Ambassador.  He is also a trustee of Scope – the disability charity.

Jason Martin: Partner, Hawkins\Brown
As Partner at Hawkins\Brown, Jason leads one of the design studios delivering innovative and award winning projects across a range of sectors including Commercial, Education and Residential. Jason enjoys turning a design idea into built reality and is currently leading the delivery team for Here East. Jason is an active member of the British Council for Offices and sits on the CIBSE Conference Advisory Group.

Joni Steiner: Co-founder, Opendesk
Joni is a qualified architect and designer with the YAYA shortlisted architecture and strategic design firm 00:/ (zero zero).
