Qualifying as an architect in 2000, Nicola has since completed numerous projects across the residential, education, arts, community, and workplace sectors.
She now co-runs a studio of 24 architects and assistants within Hawkins\\Brown, who work on a mix of projects at different scales and stages of design, as well as overseeing the strategic development of the workplace sector.
Always calm, Nicola is a fantastic motivator of people, and knows how to get the best out of a team.
Her most recently completed project is Here East, a 1.2m sqft Tech Hub at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park which won the British Council for Offices (BCO) National award for best refurbished / recycled workplace and AJ100 Building of the Year 2018. Current projects include the repurposing of the Printworks in Canada Water, London.
A former trustee of the Twentieth Century Society, Nicola has a particular interest in post-war buildings, and in September 2018 completed a research study Industrial Rehab, in collaboration with JLL, that pulls together case studies of large scale industrial buildings re-purposed for workspace at an international level.
Nicola is a judge for the York Design Awards and a regular contributor to architectural and design publications.
