Esme studied at the University of Nottingham followed by Dundee School of Architecture, where she was awarded a Masters with Distinction for her thesis on the story of the city and how its characters might better communicate with each other, which was exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy.
Prior to joining Hawkins\Brown, Esme worked with Studio Weave for several years, during which she gained her Part III from London Met University. She has particular experience in community engagement, place-making and public realm, and bringing narrative and educational elements to projects. She is passionate about designing spaces for public use that are inviting and rich in identity.
Esme is an avid writer and has written for magazines including Blueprint and Icon, as well as for Dezeen’s inaugural book. She jointly runs Matzine, a collaborative venture in publishing and debating.
